Pulley Search

Post by SmokyMtnRed »

I think this might be the correct forum for this, but I am having a hard time finding a pulley I need for my plasma table. The old motor had a 3/8" shaft and the replacement motor has a 1/2" shaft. The current belt is "1/5in XL pitch, 3/8in wide, 105 tooth" and I need a pulley with a 1/2" bore in it. Maybe I am not looking in the right place but I am having zero luck. I ordered my belts from AutomationDirect and can not find them there either.

New motor = https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/sh ... mtrh-34066

Belt = https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/sh ... 210xl037ng

Added a couple of images for the heck of it. The motor goes behind the plate with the shaft coming toward you.

That is a good question, and I am still learning the proper way to figure that out. I found a calculator for belts but not for pulleys yet.

The old setup was 10 teeth to 72 teeth. So I guess that would be 10XL pulley?

Right. It seems it should be easy for a machine shop to convert your existing pulley to a 1/2" shaft. Why reinvent the wheel?

Here is one with a 1" bore you could use an adapter to bring it down to .5" There are many others with metric bore :Sad

Monday, we plan on having the shaft machined down, I should have mentioned that. I guess this is more common than I was thinking then?

I am trying to document this rebuild better than how I received it. I was trying to find part numbers for the need of reordering, but I guess the shaft could be swapped fairly quickly if a new motor is needed in the future. I am overthinking it I guess LOL

I didn't even think about that. Remove the armature from the motor and turn it down to 3/8" ... That is probably the best idea.

I would be more inclined to go with Duner405's suggestion and just enlarge the bore in the pulley. Looks like it is aluminum, should be super easy.
