Loss of arc error

Post by Pearlpanda »

Hello everyone, I am brand new to the CNC plasma world and was really excited, started learning the programing and cutting things. I have run in to an issue of random loss of arc errors. I am at a loss, the plasma just sits there and burns a hole then the error pops up on the computer. Sometimes it happens during a cut and other times it happens at the initial pierce and won't even cut. PSI is good at the table at all times (even bought a new compressor to make sure we stayed at the suggested psi) we have a 4x8 Fab-Cut table with Thermal Dynamics 40i, running Flash Cut CNC and cutting 14g Aluminum. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks a bunch I'll attach some pictures as well.

Is your pierce delay too long? Maybe it's burning the metal away & loses the arc signal.

Dito on the pierce delay, the torch should move as soon as the plasma blows through the metal no longer, it only makes a bigger hole.

I am with these guys on pierce delay and be sure your heights and speeds are correct. Don't trust what the computer says your height is on screen, actually measure the pierce and cut heights and adjust accordingly to the manuals cut speed chart specs.

Thanks for all the replies today, it turned out to be a burned out tip and electrode, it's been running great since we changed them.
