Parking switch

Post by djreiswig »

I have home switches on my table for squaring. I also have a home switch on my cross axis (Y). For loading materials I run the Y as far away from me as possible to keep from hitting it. I'm wondering if I can put another switch on the opposite side from my home switch and add a button in Mach to send it that way and stop at the switch. What input would I use in Mach and what command would make the axis move in the opposite direction from homing?
I guess I could just move my home switch to the other side and change the homing direction. Would this mess with the coordinates on my table?
I have 0,0 as the lower left corner. I want the Y to park at the upper edge.

You can use the up arrow key on the keyboard to move the Y to the other side. There is only one input for each axis home position so adding another limit switch would not work, you should have limits on both ends/sides but you can only home positive or (negative the normal to 0.0 table position).
I think the Command-CNC setup will give you more limit switches which may help, but that is a lot to pay to do only that.

I don't have limits, since it is a stepper system. And Mach3 and I get along pretty good so I'm not ready for Linux at this point. Just looking for an easy way to get it to go that way and stop before it runs off the gear track.
