How to wire switch to estop in Mach3

I finally got around to making my breakaway torch mount. Wondering if anyone knows how to wire a switch to the torch mount so that when it does crash it will estop the program in mach3. Thanks for any help

Which controller hardware are you using?

Simple thing is to wire it in series with you limits switches, A small micro switch the will open when the torch fall away.
I think if you do a search here there may be some images of how other guys did it. I think Sean P had a post about his.

acourtjester, I don't think that i have any limit switches. The only switch I have is for my floating Z head.

I can't find any info on their controller online. Do you have any manuals with wiring info? You might have to get ahold of Premier.

It is not hard to setup the switch in Mach 3 but you will need to know how to connect it to your controller (input pin and return locations).
Do you have an "E" stop button on your table?

Court jester, I do have an estop button on my controller. Just don't know how to wire it. Thanks for thinking of that good start

Ok if it works and you can access the connections you may be able to wire the new switch in series with it as long as they are both setup in the NC condition which means when either is tripped you get an open circuit. The reason is a broken wire will give the same condition and cause you to find the problem why the "E" is active without the "E" stop pushed.
