2 Problems

Post by Plasron »

1. When I do a Ref All Home in Mac3 the Z axis goes out of limits , have to turn of machine and push torch down by hand to get it back with in limits

2. Probe ignore, call for probe, we are plasma cutting, so is the torch a Probe, and what could be the problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Not familiar with Mach3 but does your Z axis not have an upper limit switch ? If not I am sure you can set Mach so that only the XY axis moves when you reference all home and Z stays at the current height.

Many use the probe feature for their toucha nd retract initial height sensing so basically the torch moves down towards the material until it contacts at which point a switch is tripped or ohmic clip is grounded to idicate the torch has touched the top surface of the material.

1) Go to Config >> Homing / Limits and change the set motor limits.

2) https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index ... ic=23446.0
The torch uses a floating head / ohmic sensor.... if you are using G31 then it uses the probe input to do a touchoff (as explained in the link).
... the fix / check is also explained in the link

When doing Plasma you do not want to use Ref All, the reason is that Z is the first to move and plasma homes down. You torch will crash into the metal surface.
You can remove the Z axis from the Ref All button by clicking on the Operator dropdown menu and clicking on “Edit Button Script”. This will make the Ref All button pulse click on it this opens up the script for that button and you can remove on of the lines that is for the Z axis (I don’t remember which one). Save that and try it out, as I said Z moves first.

You can also modify the screen display by putting a Probe led box on the program page as shown.

Thanks to all for your help
My brother asked the question on I think this forum, and was told by someone that the probe on his machine the rail was dirty and once he cleaned it, it started working right again.

After I ask the questions here, my brother found the probe and it was dirty, he cleaned it and now it works again.

Thanks
