CNC torch head dragging

Post by Arc31 »

I’m using sheetcam and Mach 3. I’m running in to a problem every time I cut my touch its dragging every time it starts to cut a new piece of the part. I was wondering if anyone know how to make it so it only has to touch the plate once in awhile not every time.

There are 2 setting in the tool setup you need to look at, pierce and cut height. Mach follows the G-code, shown here. Pierce just before the M3 and cut just after.

For when the head touches the plate every time it goes to cut the next piece. Where in the setting is it to change it to touch the plate once in awhile.

It doesn't look like your post has that option. If it did, you would have a setting for reference every x units. You could look at other posts and see if you can edit yours to do this. Basically it tracks the cut distance and when it reaches a certain point it resets the variable and lets the reference sub run.

I use what u sent me and the tip is still dragging and it also looks like for some reason the head is getting pushed on the plate then lifting off to the cut height for longer cuts. Here’s the G code I’m not sure why I have F60 not F25 like u?

The F command is the speed of movement higher number faster movement. You do not want a crazy speed when moving the torch down.
Again these are set in the tool section of SheetCam.
