Where are rules stored?

Post by ddfarmboy »

My 2018 computer from CandCNC crashed and I ended up getting a new computer with a fresh install Of sheetCam. I can access my old hard drive with a USB cable, but I can't find where the path rules are stored so I can copy or rewrite them. Anyone able to point me in the right direction? I had a lot of test cuts to define the values and didn't document it well.

I think they're probably in the settings folder. You can get there from the help menu.

Do you have any SheetCam job files? Job files include the tools and rules.
SheetCam's settings are stored on the usb drive in home/plasma/.SheetCamTNG-dev
Note this is a hidden folder so you may need to set your file manager to show hidden files and folders.
Make sure SheetCam is not running on your computer then copy everything in there to the equivalent folder on your computer. When you restart SheetCam it should have all of your settings.

I have a different location for my tools and edited post processors, I did not place them there, and it may have been windows that did. Yours may be in a similar location on the old hard drive. Look at the attached image of the hard drive path (in the top section), you hard drive will have a different name where mine is tom. The rest are standard windows folders.

That's where the settings are stored on Windows. CandCNC use Linux. The Linux version stores settings in home/{user}/.SheetCamTNG-dev/

Well, if someone searches for this topic in the future they'll get both possibilities.

Anyway, I appreciate the help.
