[DXF]

I haven't cut one of these yet but the slots are sized for 14 gage metal. If anyone cuts one would you please post a picture? I'm including a couple of links that might help in assembly. The slots are numbered for assembly in the picture. My plan is to make the upper and lower jaws touch in the front. I think it would look better than in the links. Also if anyone has a T Rex file would you post it? Thanks

Thanks Ray. I found the one I was looking for in another folder. I think I found it on the CNC zone not sure. I have (3) T rex's. Here's a picture of it and the dxf file. It needs some work.

I finally cut one of these out after several years. I did it in 11G and it turned out pretty cool. I think it would be best in 3/16" at the size I cut it. In 11G some of the parts are just a bit sloppy. I believe the 3/16" would give a bit more "shoulder" to stiffen the assembly up. I tack welded everything together and will put it in the landscaping among the ferns and let it rust. That should give the squirrels a fright! Thanks for the file post to give me a bump start.................RK

I did one that was modeled after a teranadon. Cut from 1/8 it was about 37" long. The one i scaled up and cut from 3/16 was just a tad over 5 foot long. Had to weld it together, as the pieces didnt want to stay together.

GDS I would just take this size and redo all the slots to 3/16". Be a bunch of work but would probably be worth it. I have done a T-Rex in 1/4" (much simpler) and it stands as a puzzle well without welding. Maybe the 3/16" V-Raptor would still require welding to stand alone but I like the feeling of weight and mass that the thicker metals give. Only trouble with the thicker metals is the increase in cost, customers just don't get that!............RK

You're welcome. That turned out nice! I think 14 gage cold rolled would be fine for the size I made the file. Thanks for posting the pics.

This is awesome. I really appreciate the work that goes into these pieces. I downloaded this last week and asked my students to make it for the shop. One of them jumped in and made this. She took it home to show her husband and it hasn't made it back yet. Thank you for the file and the new shop pet.

I nested this file a bit tighter, so I thought I would share to help others that may be wanting to cut this out. I also made 1 each of the duplicate parts. So this one DXF can go right into sheetcam, or whatever you use and be cut as a single cut file.

It was a little tricky figuring out how it went together though because the links to the assembly help files are broken. Eventually I got it figured out. I did mine 1:1 scale in 14gauge. I had to manually open up all the slots with a cutoff disk, but I think I set me kerf width wrong, so I believe that was my fault, and not the fault of the file.

That's what I thought so I made one and I put it in our yard and left it there for a few months. I just wanted to see the reaction of visitors without me saying a word. Well, months passed and I was quite surprised when basically no-one said boo about it, until one day a mum who was at ours loved it and I sold it to her for $150.

Made another one and advertised it but got very little response. Mainly the odd person wanting it cheap. Seems some of this stuff gets an ooh and an aahhh here and there but when it comes to actually buying, there's not always much demand. Still sitting in my dining room, I might try advertising it again LOL.

It was tricky for me, but once you get going it gets easier. Study the picture, and start at the feet. Have fun. It is cool when it is done.
