Please - by all means - draw it up to share with fellow members.

I second that. Any fab equipment that can be cut and built is greatly appreciated.

I'd really think about changing that design a little, make the current holding portion still hold, but a chain or something around the bottom of the jack so it can't slip back. I gave up on my thing like that as some of those jacks don't work horizontally and you can pinch it too hard and mess with the last bit of stroke.

Buying or making your handle for the ack to release is so nice....I made something similar for my press's bottle jack. Round can be nice, but if your hands are greasey a star or tee handle helps out there.

I made this one over 10 years ago and it's still going strong. I added a fill tube on the side of the bottle so it can be topped up in the horizontal position.

I build the "Gottrikes" version of a tubing bender, bends in a vertical orientation. I replaced the run block with a roller, helps the tubing move to follow the bending action.

Tom - that's a great build! Plus having it in the vertical orientation make it much easier to use a digital inclinometer to accurately measure the angle as you are bending it.

thanks David I actually build 2 the first was the manual ram then sold that and built the one with air assist. I was the first listed on his web site for building his plans and I added the wheels for easy transport. worked out well in building the frame for my 34 Ford street rod.

Very nice work Tom! Is that first photo loaded on the trailer when you first received it? I remember you posted a photo of this car a while back, and I wasn't sure what you were going to do with it.

I have had it for many years and did a large amount of work on it, and the interest with building CNC tables and other projects pushed it aside. It came to the point getting older and the possibility of not finishing it came into my mind. So I put it on the market for an attractive price, and it sold quickly. I still have a Model "A" truck cab with spare doors (narrowed down to about 12" wide) that I would like to convert into an extended cab pickup, with an aftermarket pickup bed. Time will tell.

I have an idea for measuring bend angles on a horizontal bender like yours that I’ve been thinking about 3d printing for a while. I checked the repeatability of the compass on my iPhone and it’s surprisingly accurate. It works best when the phone is in the vertical position. I was thinking of printing a phone holder with an open cavity on the bottom for a decent strength magnet. Place the phone holder on the bending shoe with the compass app open, operate the bender to where the shoe gets tight against the tubing, then rotate the phone holder to where your compass reads zero. It’s just a thought at this point because I haven’t started my next tube bending project, so I have no use for it right now, but I think it would work fairly well. Better than trying to look over the top of the tig rod that’s currently on there as my pointer.

Great example of using what you have to solve a problem, incorporating your Cell phone and 3-D printing to improve a tool. :Like

I have have one of these it has an indented side for rounds, great for machine torch alignment:

Here's a digital sliding t-bevel as well that would work great around a press brake:

Does anyone have the DFX files to build either one of these benders?
