Father's Day Signs

Post by dbrub2 »

Searching the web for interesting Father's Day signs a found a picture of one but there was no cut file purchase option so I figured I try and duplicate it with fonts and graphics I had. I've cut one ant it cut ok. As usual, the fonts have way to many nodes and I spend a little time reducing them but they could use more. I only have SVG because I use Fusion 360 and SVG's seem to import a bit easier than dxf. But if requested I think I can turn the SVG into dxf. Anyway, I hope someone can use this!

Nice work, accent details are neat. there are many posts here where member show different techniques for drawing using Inkscape, and many other talk about node manipulation. You can use the search function in the upper right to look around. It seems that some software like SVG and other like DXF to transfer files between themselves.

Looks like the spark plug on the right has left hand threads. :-D

Nice design.
I made a 2 slight modifications.. i was bitched at by a customer for having double open ends on a sign i made for their father once... she said double open ended wrenches are for carpenters :HaHa ... i hate to show her my tool boxes.
Hope you like. (also changed the threads on the right hand plug :ugeek:

Maybe flip the shadow marks in the 2 areas on the right plug also. Shadows are normally on the same side of objects.

Thx for the mods and fixing the thread pitch issue…funny how you don’t notice things like that till you step back and take a better look!

Sometimes mirroring things has unintended results. Sign looks good, though.

I think they both look great! I don't do much carpentry, but I've got plenty of open end wrenches along with my box wrenches and combination wrenches. I think the ones used most often by carpenters are the Crescent wrenches (adjustable wrenches).

I was raised in an automotive repair shop. Cut my teeth on open end wrenches. In my 73 years I'd never heard of that. Oh well...learn something new every day.

That's what we were using as well (for me back in the early 60's). In the early days, it was either open end wrenches or box wrenches. The combos didn't come into favor until much later on.
