I pretty new to the world of plasma cutting. We bought a 4x4 plasma cam table with torch height control. I am using a hypertherm powermax 800 with that table. Can i use the following consumables on for fine cuts on stainless?
220403 Ohmic Finecut Shield
120964 Ohmic Retaining Cap
220330 Fine Cut Nozzles
120574 Extended Electrodes
120576 Swirl Ring
I am planning on using the fine cut consumables on 11ga - 18 ga stainless. For the thicker materials, up to 1/2" i am planning on using the following
120602 Shield
120964 Ohmic Retaining Cap
120577 Nozzle
120573 Electrode
120576 Nozzle
Are these a good start to using consumables for my hypertherm? I will follow what i saw in a video that i need to set the amps as follows:
20 amps for 1/8" thick
30 amps for 1/4" thick
40 amps for 3/8" thick
50 amps for 1/2" thick
Can someone give me some insight on what i listed above? Is this a good way to start cutting stainless? Can i follow the cut charts that are listed on the manual for stainless?
Thanks in advance

Re: New to plasma cutting
You can download the operators manual from www.hypertherm.com or you can call tech service at Hypertherm 1 800 643 9878 and ask them to email or send the Powermax800 mechanized cut charts to you. The operators manual has cut charts that will help you with amperage, cut speed, cut height, pierce height for different materials and thicknesses. Jim Colt
