Hypertherm 85 Machine torch with PlasmaCam

Post by plasmacreations »

Hello All,

Possibly looking to see if Jim Colt or another rep from Hyperthem can help me out with this issue I am having. I am converting from a Powermax 45 machine torch to a Powermax 85 with a machine torch on a plasmacam table using the plasmacam cable. The video manual does not help much with the machine torch just hand torch which I wired to work fine with it. Plasmacam does not offer support with the machine torch. Looks like I can use plasmacams cable and hook the trigger wire to 3 and 4 on the CPC Port instead however this is were the issue comes into play. I don't have a CPCport on this machine. Do I need to purchase a upgrade kit #228697 then ill be able to attach to 3 and 4 or can I just find were the upgrade kit hooks to and attach the wires to it with out the upgrade kit? Am I going about this the right way. Is this what I need to do to make the plasma cam software fire the machine torch?

If all you need is the start pins, you should be able to tap into the cpc connector on the board. You would probably want to get the proper connector, since you won't have it plugged into your board.. It should also be possible to tap in at the torch connector. Here is a schematic from the service manual for these terminals. I also attached a shot of the connectors on the board. The one the cpc harness goes to is the lower white one. J21 pins 1&2 red & black. You can also get arc okay off of this connector if you need it.
The black one above it goes to the torch connector. J20 pins 3&4 vio & yel.

The cpc connector will also give you access to the divided voltage signal.
