Hypertherm 105 height controller voltage

Post by ssderick »

Upgraded from a thermal dynamics A120 in 2015 after frying boards in 4 of them, in as many years. Always ran this unit on 208 3 phase. Voltage for height controller was spot on with the chart in manual. Recently moved into my new shop. Hooked up to 480 3 phase. Now my voltage is about 60% lower than before. Cuts Fine. Just wondering why this is. Had to reconfigure all my voltage settings for all different plate thickness. We cut 3/8" to 3/4" all the time. One thing I can say, this unit cuts twice as fast, a lot cleaner, consumables are cheaper and last 10+ times longer than a thermal dynamics. Now I have replaced "3" TD 85 for Hypertherm 65 for hand cutting.

That is strange, I have no idea why input voltage would affect it but I am sure someone here will. Curious to know what the answer is....
