H. P. 1650 3 lights blinking no fire on torch

Post by inspectweld »

My Hypertherm Powermax 1650 will not fire. I have 3 lights blinking, the v for power, the pressure light and the torch light.I`m not sure if this has anything to do with it but before I attempted to run the program and cut I changed consumables. I triple checked the consumables and switched the machine off and back on like you should but still no fire and the 3 lights still blinking. Any thoughts out there as to what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

I glanced thru the operators manual for your machine (page 99). The troubleshooting guide references lights by colour, so not sure how that relates to your 3 lights. You might take a look at the owners manual and see if it helps you.

thanks but I already looked at that and it says:
10. The power ON (green) and fault
(red) lamps are flashing.
10.1 Self-diagnostic failure.
The system needs repair

Got back to the shop this morning and decided to change out the control board from my parts machine and it works fine so far. I still have an unsolved problem with the machine I used for parts. It only cuts for about 4 ft. and it quits firing and it wont fire back up unless I let it sit for about 5 min. I tried many different things and could not solve the problem.

Is the cooling fan kicking on and doing it's job?
