PM45XP Consumables

Post by SmokyMtnRed »

What is the best pack of consumables out there? I looked at this pack I linked below and noticed different electrodes, but is there a better solution for me if one of these isn't needed in my typical use?

I prefer to order each part by it self, many like the electrodes and nozzles are in 5 packs. the kits are nice but I think you pay for somethings you might not use and the nice packaging. :HaHa There are a few seller on eBay that are hypertherm true suppliers ( no repop parts from china) that you can order as you need, and only what you need. I would order fine cut and 45 amp nozzles, one swirl ring ( for the torch you have) and some electrodes.
I have a 65 and there are 2 types of electrodes, not sure if the 45 XP does, also on the swirl ring one for machine and one for hand held torched check to see if that is so with the 45 XP. Check here for the post on the Silicone grease, a member posted what he uses, some point down the road you will need some. And the shield, if you are going to add an Ohmic sensor there is a different shield for that.

I would just buy the consumable items your really need. I did not see a breakdown of what is included but I am sure you could make better use of that money.

So it is wise to avoid non-genuine consumables altogether, or is there a reliable one?

:Sad yes that is correct, they don't last as long and may cause cutting problems due to cheap construction. Many posts here about that.
They do last with normal cutting, main problems is incorrect piercing, crappy metal blowback and bad air.

Yes. Your best success will be using genuine OEM Hypertherm consumables.

I use dielectric grease from the auto parts store for the orings. It's silicone grease.
