Plasmacam 98z comm error

Hi everyone so I have a plasmacam 98z. Trying to get it to connect to the computer (old IBM Desktop) with the parallel port in the motherboard. It will not connect, comes back with communication error and states to check the power cable and parallel port cable. I have tried 2 different cables so far. I had another dell desktop that I had it connect to previously (6-8 months ago) but I think I fried it yesterday. I haven’t used it since I put electric in my shop. Any help would be appreciated thanks

I have only had luck with a old hp computer and a Dell laptop.
