Plasma cam not initializing

Post by Bbrayden85 »

Machine control error: unable to initialize machine. Could not detect limit switch opening on: carriage gantry.

Basically when I initialize the machine it starts moving very slowly towards home but only making it a couple inches until it errors. I squared the table. I started it and tried pressing either of the two buttons and neither had any effect. The machine was previously moved from a shop to this house. And hasn’t worked since. I also have rapid travel speed all the way up but only moves at like 5 inches per minute.

If the gantry is knocked off by a tooth on the rack such that it is not square with the table, it is possible that the gantry limit switch will not be activated. Check that when your gantry is in the home position that both ends of the gantry are touching the table stops. Otherwise check the Video Manual, Chapter 8, Motion Control Errors for the proper trouble shooting procedure.

Does anyone know what could be wrong or encountered this issue before?

Test your limit switches. This is described in the Video Manual.

Check your rapid travel speed setting in machine control. If this gets set extremely low it can cause this error. Try setting it to 500 or more inches per minute.

Which two buttons did you try pressing? Have you tested your limit switches?

Sorry, it didn't say 1000 so I never assume that 'all the way up' means that.

Have you checked your limit switches in diagnostics? indicators for the limit switches should go yellow when pulled into the home corner and white when away.
