Trouble coverting inkscape drawing into cuttable dxf file

Post by cfj96 »

hey guys i'm sorry but i'm really new at designing artwork but I drew up this sign for a Christmas gift to my parents. I drew it in inkscape and i'm having a really hard time getting it to convert over to a dxf file. Its going into a Vicon hvac table and when I convert it to a dxf it adds points and changes all the points around. Would someone be able to help me convert this? Also if anyone has any good suggestions on why this is happening id take any pointers I can get. Thanks alot!!! download/file.php?mode=view&id=61798

Here you go make the strokes all 0.005" used the difference function under path the make the letters so the will not drop out, and the J to 0.005" stroke too, saved as DXF
have fun

Thank you very much!! like i said i'm trying to get a hang of inkscape and just drawing stuff of my own. this helps me big time and i will have to draw some more things up with the stroke set differently. Do you use any fill? or just have the stoke when you save it?

Ok if you are using the drawing for Plasma cutting I do not use fill, and a very small stroke like 0.005".
Now when you trace or draw you can have fill but before you save just remove the fill and check the stroke. That will show what you are going to cut, it is easier to see fall outs or other things that may give you a problem.
If you PM me you email address I will send you a large amount of YouTube videos I have downloaded via the Google drive (a non-Yahoo email)
