Post by tployaert »

Hello, i just start in plasma cutting and i have bought a cheap chinese cutter (herocut 45i) just to test, sorry about that! i wanted to know if i Can find more precise cutting nozzle for thin material for my pt31 torch or change the torch for a better torch and perhaps a wider choice in tips ? thanks !

The pt31 is a really mediocre torch at best.
You can probablt swap the torch itself for a SG55 type, which is better quality and has more consumables available.
Just buy the sg55 torch body and swap it out.

If I need a longer hose, what kind of hose to use for this plasma cutter with pt31 torch ? It looks like a common air hose compressor.

ok , thanks. Change for a SG55 torch, indeed much cleaner work. I just change the torch and not the hose. But now i have to get in contact with the metal plate to start the arc, after i can go up a few millimeters. And with a spacer it's not practical. Is it normal ? With the PT31 I do not need to get in conctact.
Yes I know the answer is pilot arc ;-)
