Thank you for this calculator. I have been trying to make one myself and this is perfect.

Well ... "perfect" is a strong word. It is a framework for a spreadsheet that allows you to enter certain DATA and it spits out a BEST GUESS price for a piece of metal. I am sure other people who are able to create spreadsheets could probably add many features to it. When I created it, I was only selling raw metal pieces, so I didn't put a lot of time into adding in the costs of painting, powder coating, gold plating, etc. etc. This spreadsheet can be enhanced as you need. Find someone who knows what to do, to make the cells give you the results you desire.

Thank you for the compliment though!

Make any changes to the spreadsheet that you wish, but ONLY change the DATA in the BLUE BOXES when you are calculating the price of a piece.

Hi Joe,
Question would it be possible to add some boxs or cells where we could add shipping, insurance, misc. to the spreadsheet where we could add that info to the total price.
Thanks Dean

Anything can be added to the spreadsheet. Are you asking me to do it? Anyone with basic knowledge of EXCEL should be able to modify the spreadsheet to add in calculations for shipping, taxes, insurance, tracking numbers, etc.

I could create cells for manual entry of these numbers, but if you are asking for some automatic population of a cell based on a zip code or a weight or a shipping rate, that would take far more time and energy than I am willing to invest into a FREE spreadsheet.

The sheet I created is a BASIC guess-timate of what a piece should cost, based on the price of the raw material (what YOU pay for the steel), and some general charges for pierces and per-inch cutting, etc. It adds in a shop overhead cost at a percentage YOU set, which is intended to help offset the many hidden costs of producing a product in a shop.

Buying material and making a wall clock is only PART of the cost. If you don't consider ALL of the costs of making that clock, then you aren't really making any money.

This pricing spreadsheet is not software. It is a spreadsheet. You enter the numbers that YOU use, and the spreadsheet gives you some numbers that are rough calculations, based on current prices of materials and labor.

It works as a separate spreadsheet, but you can get information from Sheetcam to input into the spreadsheet, such as number of pierces, inches of cut, cut time.
