View DXF THUMBNAILS in folders!!!

Post by Joe Jones »

Microsoft has released a FREE APP that lets you view DXF files in folders as THUMBNAILS!!!

You can select the background color. I chose ORANGE to make them obvious. :HaHa

A sample is posted below.

Enjoy!

Looks cool but I can't seem to make it work. Read everything, unchecked and checked the appropriate boxes and now I see thumbnails of cdr files but still no dxf's. Ah well, worth a try.

Right click on a DXF thumbnail in any folder and select DXF THUMBNAILS as the viewer.

Tom - I have been using Irfanview for many years now. My version will show a thumbnail image preview for jpegs, but not for dxf.
Is there an add-on I need to do this?
Thanks,
David

David if you go to a file you want to open with Irfanview, right click the click on "open with" this brings up the menu with the different programs you can use to open it with. Choose the default program it Irfanveiw is not shown, and locate it on the HD. In the bottom there is a box with "Always use the selected program to open this kind of files" it will remember then when you click on the DXF files you have saved and they will now have the Cat Icon.

Tom - perhaps I am misunderstanding you. I think you are saying that I can change how the icon for a dxf file is displayed to the cat icon. I want the icon to show a preview of the actual dxf file. Where am I going wrong?
Thanks,
David

If you make the change to the DXF file look up as shown, I will change the Icon and when you click on it after that it will display an image of the DXF file. Your not wrong I just did not explain it well. :HaHa :HaHa It will fine all the DXF files you have and change the Icon and how they are displayed.

After I posted that I realize the OP was for "Thumbnails" this is just changes the display of files not a reorganizing of their location. :Sad :HaHa

I am really happy with it too. It is nice to SEE what the file looks like in the thumbnails without needing to open it.
