How to do a dry run on a large sheet...

Post by MountainWerks »

Hi Guys. Just as the title states. Previously I have just ticked the checkbox that says disable torch for smaller pieces, but now I have a large piece of art I'm trying to do a dry run on and the tip is hitting the material. How do I get the height I need without interrupting the pass? I searched dry run and didn't see anything that seemed to answer the question. Thanks in advance.

Does your table use Mach3? If so, this might help.

Because THC uses voltage to maintain the gap, having Disable Torch checked disables that ability to maintain a gap. What I would do is get your torch about 1" above the material, then Zero Z. Then, click the Manual tab on the left-middle side of CommandCNC. Find a box that says "skip touchoffs" and check that. Run your file, making sure "skip touchoffs" is still checked. The torch should dry run your nest with enough height to not bump into the material, and not be touching off the material for every "pierce".

Give us a call with any questions, thanks 866-222-2154
