Is this going to be a two layer sine or just cut thru? Also how big is it going to end up "L" X "W" in inches?

I don't SUPPOSE you would know the name of the FONT used in this sign...

I am making multiple signs with it the largest sign will be 30' wide 18' tall. the smallest sign will be a 2 layer sign. and the largest will be single letter cut outs.

Joe used Design Edge from Plasmacam. Most folks won't have this program unless they own one of the newer Plasmacam tables. Design Edge is available as a stand-alone program with a cost of about $3k per license. Your image could be converted and then the text edited using Inkscape, which is a free program. Let me know if you want more information and I will show you how to do it with Inkscape.

I use DesignEdge, which is the proprietary software used to run PlasmaCam tables.

The design did not trace well in Inkscape, because the image you provided was very low resolution raster format. So after a few attempts, I just imported the .JPG image and drew the whole sign by hand. That only took about 22 minutes. I should have done that at the start. It was MUCH faster than trying to clean up the mess that came in from Inkscape.

The smaller letters were just a typeset of the text, using a font very similar to the one you presented in your example. You did not provide the names of the actual FONTS used in the sign, so I drew the large letters and the feathers by hand, and typeset the smaller letters. Of course I stenciled all of the text so the centers do not fall out. If you are using POSITIVE text rather than cutting the letters out of a sheet of metal, then REMOVE the stencil bars.

You can also get the same results using Google SketchUp, which is (or WAS) a FREE program at one point. It will allow you to create the DXF file but it takes some time to learn any new program, and I assumed you do not have the time to go through the learning curve.

Just doing letters it's easy to do a large sign. I did this one for a business and it was over 35' wide, didn't come out to bad. I put holes in each letter as I made them and then made a drilling matrix so that we could put anchors in the wall. The small letters have two holes and the large have four.

Hmmm... Nice work. The "Inc." needs a period at the end though. My OCD kicked in.

Thanks for the help i really appreciate it. I will check into google sketch up I need to find the best way to convert. I usually blow it up and trace it on bobcad but it takes forever and the quality was not great on the file. Bobcad is not very good when tracing because the its difficult to get the lines to fall exactly where you want them without typing in coordinates.

I would be interested to see a video showing your process for this manual trace. I can envision maybe a grid of parallel lines at the correct angles for the larger letters, and then using the trim and bulge tools - but perhaps there is a better way to do this. What font did you use for the smaller letters, or did you manually trace them as well.

You’re not far off David. A simple grid was used to create the letters on ortho lines. Once the basic letters were formed, it was a simple matter of putting a fillet on the various corners that require them, and then putting a slant on the entire text. I’m out and running around right now in my truck and I have some things to do when I get home. Tomorrow is July 4 and if I am inspired, I’ll be glad to make a video showing how that was done.

I will look forward to it. I was starting with the lines already slanted to match the letter angles, but perhaps it is easier to draw them using orthogonal lines as you suggest, and then slanting them after that.

Here is the difference.

Draw a rectangle 4" wide x 1" tall. Now draw another one below it.

Now draw a half circle at the right end of the top rectangle only.

now slant both rectangles to the right about 13 degrees.

Now draw the round end on the lower slanted rectangle with the straight right edge.

The curves come out differently, because you are slanting the rectangle but not the curve on the lower one.

The video is uploading to You Tube now....
