Help converting image to DXF

Post by cjschwartz »

I am trying to use the trace to bitmap tool in Inkscape but the crown is too light and it makes it hard. I want to avoid tracing this if possible.

Can anyone convert this for me?

You can open your image file in paint.net and adjust the brightness/contrast to help darken up the crown.
adjust brightness and contrast.jpg
Then save file and import to Inkscape to convert to dxf. Just do a little bit of editing of two of the circles in the crown to complete.
edit circles.jpg
Here it the finished file.

Thanks another trick to add to the bag, I had tried Paint with the magic stick but there was to much shading. Looks like brightness/contrast is a big help to a finished product.

This was something I discovered a while back when attempting to do auto traces of some difficult images. I will sometimes resize the original image with IrfanView to a larger size (more pixels) and then use Paint.net to convert to black and white (if necessary) and adjust the brightness/contrast in an attempt to achieve a higher fidelity image for tracing. Happy to help.
