Reckon this can be traced?

Post by agri04 »

I never ask for help on conversions, I stick to simple black and white traces. Just want to know of any tips to trace this using V-carve. That's the program that came with our table and the school doesn't give us a lot of wiggle room to get any other program. Any input welcome.

Are you planning on plasma cutting, cnc wood carving, or? Since you say VCarve Pro came with your table - I would assume you are planning to do some engraving on a cnc router table. Here is my tracing with VCarve Pro, you can see the settings I used. You can play around with adjusting Noise Filter and Bitmap Fading and preview the results after each adjustment. This will need some node editing in order to create a usable cut file. If you were planning to do cnc plasma cutting, then I would assume that you might be planning to use a layered approach with different colors to match the original.

You might also consider contacting one of the professionals for a quote for a manual tracing of your image.

Oooh thats a tough one, I would never be able to make that auto trace, it would be a full on draw from scratch for me.

Larry - that one looks cleaner than the results with VCarve. What program did you use?
Thanks,

I converted it to B & W with Phto2sketch and cleaned up some of the background with Scan2cad. With a little time you could take out all the background clutter in Scan2cad, I spent about 5 minutes in total converting this one.

Larry - which version of Scan2cad are you using? One of the older versions, or the current expensive version?
Thanks,
David
