Draw a pencil sketch if what you seek, along with a sample of the FONT you want to use. I can create the file for you.

Hmmm... I remember doing a file for a MCFURF of a bicycle lane icon. Now this ID is MRFURF

Is this the same person? Ahh... I see that I misread the identity on the bicycle thread.

I cannot give you advice about other software. My knowledge is centered around DesignEdge, which is the PlasmaCam proprietary software they use to run their tables.

Post your autocad dxf file, and I will take a look. I still use AutoCad 14 for some stuff - mainly for cnc machined parts. I also use Bricscad which is similar to AutoCad and uses many of the same commends. Which version of AutoCad are you using?

I think the problem is that with AutoCad the text you type in is considered as text, and not as part of the drawing if exported as dxf. So if I type in the following text (numbers) and export as dxf, the resultant file is blank and the typed numbers are not included.

In the example below, the numbers I typed in as text are not included when the file is exported as dxf.

One solution is to create your letters or numbers using a different program such as Inkscape, then save them as dxf and import to AutoCad. Now you will be able to edit them, draw your border around them, and use the trim tool to cut away the portions you don't want so that you can connect your numbers to the surrounding border.

Here is an example. The font is not the same as the one you showed in your photo, but can still get the basic ideal of the of the process.

Create the numbers using the Text tool, then save file as dxf.
text 3.jpg

Import the dxf file to AutoCad, then draw the frame around the numbers and use the Trim tool to trim away the overlaps so that the numbers stay
connected to the frame when cut.

Here is the file after exporting from AutoCad as dxf and opening with Design Edge for review.

Inkscape is a free program and one you might consider trying out to create your letters and numbers. With a little practice, you could probably draw up the complete file with Inkscape and save as dxf ready to open with your vicon program for cutting.

Autocad, draftsight and similar programs are great for drawing parts.
For art work there are a pile of programs out there.
Lightburn is a program used for the Co2 lasers engraving etching etc.. but the software works very well for vectorizing stuff.
I think it's around 100 bucks.
export as dxf..
I use draftsight, arbor image cutting shop, and lightburn now..
I flip through all 3 programs depending on which works best for me..
Be patient and keep working on it and it will come.
Adbuch has a bunch of posts here helping with inkscape, take advantage of the knowledge and ask questions..
Good luck it's a rewarding journey once you start making some ground.

I've been using Autocad for over 20 years. It is not the easiest or best for artsy stuff but I am familiar with it and its commands and I make it work.
Text is not vectors and you have to use Express Tools and explode text command to get it to vectors, but even that has problems.
I use a program called Stencil Fonts to create my text, save as a dxf and then import it into Autocad and work with it from there.
I was in the sheetmetal industry for 36 years and used the same Vicon table and software you are talking about. They are not dxf or artwork friendly. You have to do a lot of workarounds to get things right.
Good luck
