Vmax,

Good morning, I know this is not going to make your day, but version 3 works the same as version 2. I tried putting the Jobs material file in the ScJobCost files folder also, but that made no difference. This is a puzzle for sure. Makes me glad I gave up writing programs years ago.

(;-) It is funny because Every version I have done works here (;-) BUT I heard from Les and he gave me the secret decoder ring instructions. It seem that windows programing is a HUGE pain in the Keester as every verison of windows seems to wants something different. Basically Welcome to Windows programming 101.

The very first version I did would follow teh directories no matter where I tried to hide them I did test that. I thought I got you this time but NOPE.

I will strip out the code and try it again (;-) TP

I hear you Vmax, Windows is a pain. I'm a Mac person myself, never any problems, but there's not much in the CNC world that runs on Mac's, so windows it is. I'm running windows 7 as my design computer, if that helps any. I do have an XP computer laying around here somewhere, maybe I'll I load Sheetcam on it just to see how it works there.

Vmax, just for grins, I ran the Trouble Shoot Compatibility program in Windows 7, and ended up running Sheetcam in Windows XP mode. The plugin works now. I'll go back and try some of the Older versions you made just to see if they work also. I'm guessing you must be running Sheetcam on a Windows XP computer.

Vmax, I went back to the original plugin you made, and it works now too. So I'd suggest you put in you help section that the plugin runs under windows XP. Users of Windows 7 need to run Sheetcam in windows XP mode. Hopefully running in XP mode won't open any other cans of worms. Wish I had thought of Compatibility mode sooner, would have saved you a lot of head scratching. But I suppose on the bright side, you know a whole lot more about writing plugins for Sheetcam now. :D

HIYA Steve. What I found out from Les WAS (;-) The way I did it would only work in Windows W2k or XP. AFTER XP teh permissions CHANGED and would no longer allow it to work. Less said it was a good thing for security reasons. SO NOW He gave me the magic monkey dust so I can fix it properly I HOPE.

That way it should run under ANYTHING windows. I just have to strip out some code and add some code back in without upsetting the apple cart.

I have it almost done now just needs some touchup and testing.

HIYA Steve are you still BRAVE ?? Here is hopefully and all windows version to test.

It will put the working files into your User /AppData /Sheetcam /Plugins/SCJobCost directory. Yea say that in one breath. The actual cost file is now a text file it has the JobName + {$$} . txt . That way any text editor can open it automatically as a text file.

It is saved to your SheetCam Jobs directory where ever that may be (;-). If you set it up in Scam then that is where you will find it.

AGAIN it works here BUT Your mileage may vary , let me know how it goes.

IF I can ever get it correct I will add in some more error messages and write the manual.

Hey Vmax,

I tried your version 6 plugin, and it works fine except......... when it asks if I want to view the report. It writes the report to the text document just fine, but I can't view it from the plugin unless I'm in XP compatibility mode. Close, but no golden banana's yet!

I've been so busy I've not had time to play with the rest of your plugins yet. I'll give them a try and let you know.

(;-) NOW that is wierd as the "view" of the file is by using Windows " NOTEPAD ". I call it from SheetCam. Now even MS can't get all windows to work right. They probably CHANGED the Hotkey assignment inside of NotePad. Does it just NOT load anything or is it an empty DOC ?

What version of Windows are you using again ?

I'll take a look at it again.

Vmax,

the view opens nothing. I did go to the properties of notepad and there is no hotkey assigned under the shortcut tab. A search of the internet seems to indicate that there normally isn't a hotkey assigned.
I do notice that when the view works under XP, that a blank cmd window is opened before the notepad opens. The cmd window doesn't open when the view is used under windows 7.

AHHH another piece of the Windows puzzle. That would indicate that Windows is blocking the use of CMD from Lua to call Notepad. GGRRRRR

Thanks for the testing

I will work on that, (;-) TP

Any chance on including a "how-to-install" PDF in the archive?

Do we need a "how-to -use" document or is this pretty simple to figure out?

Thanks vmax and Steve for the great job you did.

OK,

I have changed the Language from German to English, and it´s nearly works...
In the Sheetcam Forum had someone post a new Language File for German, with this File the Plugin works, too.
There are a few mistakes in the Translation, I think I try to translate it and post the new Language File in the Sheetcam Forum, if anybody need it, too.

The only thing that does n´t work: I have set the Units to mm, but the Plugin does calculate in inches, I think...
So a little cutout coast a few 100 bucks...

OK, I´ve got it to work fine...
I have Backup the en-Language Folder, an copy the message.mo and editor.mo from the de-Folder to the en-Folder an overwrite it.
If I now select English in SheetCam as my Language, I have it in German and the Plugin works, too.
And when I set the "Cost" in the "Material Cost Editor" in the Plugin to Cost per mm², I got the Pricing out right!
The only thing I don´t understand yet, is the "MachineCoast" in the Operational Coast, what is there the Units per?

Thanks,

Marcel

Re: SheetCam Costing Plugin

Les had told me there was a way to do it all to be able to use teh international language feature but I do not have a clue as how to do it.

The Machine cost are based on teh operational cost of teh machine per sec. Here I use $100 per hour or $0.028 per sec.

IF this is something you would really like to have you need to ask LES to make one properly. This was basically a proof of concept test to see if it could be done from SheetCam. AND it can(;-)

Hey TP,

the Plugin is working just fine, that is all ok!

So the operational cost per sec is the time, who the plasma needs to cut a shape?
If I put the Maschine cost to 1, and the Plasma cutting 1 Minute, I get there $60?
