Do you have a picture of what you need? What do you want it to say? Maybe we can help with more info

Re: single line cursive script
I installed these and it doesn't work in Qcad or Inkscape.
I may be doing something wrong too so, if someone could tell me what it is then that would be great

Not sure what to tell you. I use Torchmate CAD software. I installed the fonts on my PC using the control panel and then installed in my CAD software.Old Iron wrote:I installed these and it doesn't work in Qcad or Inkscape.

Re: single line cursive script
To add fonts to be used in Inkscape you need to put them in /windows/fonts folder (.TTF fonts) on you hard drive first I don't know if the fonts you are talking about are .TTF types they may not work.

Re: single line cursive script
I was able to install these into Inkscape through Windows TrueTypeFont .TTF filetype.
They seem to work as described, but you'll have to make sure that the "stroke" for the font is turned on. Once you've finished with the design and size, as with all fonts, you'll also need to convert it from an Object to a Path under the "Path" pull down with Inkscape before sending to SheetCAM for G-code conversion.
1. Open the zip file with Explorer and navigate to the folder
2. mouse-box and select all of the files and then right-click to open.
It should open eight cascading windows for the font installation. You'll have to hit "install" for each font you want.
I really think I'll make excellent use of these for plasma cutting and thank the OP for the idea and Odha for the website with the fonts.

Re: single line cursive script
Thanks Capstone I added them to my font folder. Other things some of those fonts with closed shapes (P,O,D,B, ect) show a black filler in the letters, you need to click on the X under fill to remove that. Another thing if you do any manipulations to the font shapes (or other things) you must click on "object to path" of "Stroke to path" to save it then. If you don't it shows the change on the screen but if you then look at the nodes they are in the non-changed shape. And you will need to do it all over again as you cannot just go back to correct it. This kicked my butt until I changed my routine to add that step in the creation of a project.

Re: single line cursive script
Thanks for walking me through this.
I had the fonts installed correctly just didn't use Inkscape right.
I use Qcad and the font doesn't show up in the library. Is this normal?

Re: single line cursive script
I have one more question.
The fonts have lines on top of lines in places.
If you load this file in Sheetcam scroll in on one of the curved part of a letter you'll see a double line.
How do I remove these stacked/duplicate lines in Inkscape or Qcad?
I know how to do it one click at a time but, I want to remove them all at once to save time.

Re: single line cursive script
Most fonts are not single stroke objects. They are closed vector objects. Most are that way beasue that is how they are made to work with printers. You have to give a line some amount of width for the printer to be able to print it more than one pixel wide, The single stoke fonts are for use with pen plotters and engravers. .
I don't think that font is going to work for plasma cutting. is too thin and will cut horribly and drive your THC nuts if you leave it turned on.
Enlarge the drawing in the drawing program and put it in WIREFRAME (does not show fills) mode so you can see the actual lines. I am not sure what you are trying to do but if you do find and use a true single stroke font its going to cut a line only as wide as the plasma kerf so it would be hard to read unless its back lighted.
