Logo JPeg's to DXF?

Post by slvr98svt »

Hey guys, got some requests to make a couple signs for a few hunting businesses. I was wondering what program you usually use to do this? I am fluent in Solidworks and that is about it! I use a Tracker CNC so, I just import a dxf I made in SW and away I go. So I have very little experience with any photo editing software.

Here is 1 of the logo's, this is the easier of the two! I am thinking I can find a font pretty much the same, it is just the European mount skull that I will need help with I think.

The 2nd is a little tougher, again another European skull, but a little more realistic, I can fill in the arrow, and probably the text, but the trees would be awesome if there is a way to convert those almost exact as well.

Again, if anyone can just give me some tips so I can try myself that is all I am looking for! However if someone is handy at converting I wont complain LOL!

Thanks,
-Matt

Try vectormagic.com. They let you try 2 or 3 images for free

Thanks I will give that a try. I downloaded inkscape but am not very fluent in it so what I am coming up with is far from useable! Just gotta keep practicing!

This may help some. The first pic is to burnt out to get the horns, if you have a pic without as much shine on it, that would work better. The trees came out good, and the mount may need a little work, check it out.
I use Scan2CAD, and just removed all the color on the mount, then converted.

Awesome, thanks. I am using Inkscape (just learning) and I got the skull to turn out good but nothing else!

Thanks a ton, and I will have to investigate Scan2CAD now to!

In any cad program you can clean the edges as much as you want after you have something to start with. The larger the picture file is the more points you have to work with. I usually try to use files that are 2 or 3 meg, makes the vector file much better.
