Horse sign

Post by Scratch »

I haven't shared a file in a while so I thought I'd share this one. This was for a birthday present I asked for help with about a week ago. It's about 20" wide, finished in Japanese Brown and is hanging in his entry way right now.

Hope it gives someone some ideas...

Now that I think about it....

That's either one strong fence, or one talented horse...

That's a patina. Japanese Brown, with Rustoleum clearcoat over it. I get my patinas from www.sculptnouveau.com

I promise, I'll order from you next time I place an order! I haven't been in the shop much at all this year, and still have alot left from my last order.

I'd much rather give my money to someone I'm familiar with. ;)

Hey Bill, with all your patina making talent, can you make a steelfx Japanese brown??? There are alot of people that prefer a more matte patina like this one. I get far more comments about yours, but still there is a strong market for this one, and I would love to have a one stop shop! I am still your number one fan, I just havent been in the shop at all for a couple of months as I have been busy with my other business. I am running low on all my patinas so I will be ordering again soon :)

Scratch - love the horse... I wonder if its true what they say about those big ole feet :o

Hi April~
Ron Young's 'Japanese Brown' is famous in the metal finishing & sculpting industries. I've never actually used it, but
I know it's very popular. As far as me making my own version of that...I seriously doubt it, but maybe I can talk to
the folks at SculpNouveau & become a dealer for it, so you can get all or most of what you need from one place..Me! ;0)

In the Very Near Future, you can try my Solvent Metal Dyes. Quick, Easy & Translucent, so you can see your steel polishing beneath the color. I'll attach a sample piece i tried with green & yellow. You can apply it with a brush, rag, sponge or air-brush for some really cool effects. No one i know of is doing their metal finishing with these dyes, so they've got real promise for setting your work apart.
