Howdy, my name is Micah and I'm a shop teachers down in Texas. We have a CNC plasma table here at school that I teach my students how to use by designing, drawing, and cutting their own projects. A lot of these kids really get into the drawing part. I tell them, you really can't mess us the drawing program, but we have to make sure its right before we cut metal. We use VCarve as our drawing program and we have a 5X10 table from Lone Start Cutting Solution and Hypertherm 85 plasma cutter. Glad to be part of the group. I've got a few files I'll start sharing as I really enjoy drawing tool organizations stations.

Welcome Frydaddy, this stuff really appeals to some kids and gets them excited which is awesome. If you have a scribe on your table you could have your kids test there CAD designs by scribing first and save a ton of wasted material :Like

Welcome aboard, great position to be in, showing kid you can make things from scratch or make new or replacement parts for a project. Another thing to save material is to attach an ink pen to the torch and mark on paper.

If the school has a 3-D printer I will send you the STL files for printing a pen holder and a drag knife holder for cutting sign vinyl.

I like the idea of using the pen attachment to draw the parts first for testing. I did the same thing when I was first getting my plasma table going.

One thing Frydaddy when using a pen it should have a spring load so it will follow the paper if the surface is not even
attached is another video and images of one of the pen setup I made, I have others that are 3-D printed.
