Newbie(s)

Post by WheelinNephew »

Hello everyone. I'm new here and new to using a plasma table. I grew up working on a farm and learned how to weld and cut and a bunch of other stuff, then got in a car accident and ended up in a wheelchair with no hand function, so I haven't done any welding or cutting in almost 20 years. My uncle (hence the WheelinNephew) was given a Legacy TM2 table with a Hypertherm Powermax 85 this past summer, but with no instruction as how to set anything up or run it, so we're trying to learn this together. Technology and these tables give me the chance to do things with him I used to do when I was able bodied and I enjoy the time with him. He's the mechanical guy that can make things the old school way and I'm the tech guy that runs the computer, but we're struggling to fine tune the 2 parts together, and I have some questions to ask. This forum has already helped us fix a few things, and I'm very grateful to those of you who share your knowledge here. So thanks to all of you!!

Welcome aboard! With your uncle's mechanical background and your newfound computer savvy - you will make a good team. There will be lots of fun to be had by all. What specific questions do you have? Ask away and there are many folks here to try to help you.

I'm a newbie and wondering about router attachment on my crossfire pro. How do you keep the router down? Is there a way to control the z axis? I get a plung cut then it goes up just off the material to continue cutting. What are folks doing to make simple work carvings on Crossfire table and what software?

Thanks,
Ned
