Hello from MT
Hello from Montana. I am reintroducing myself. I signed up here well over 5 years ago when I purchased an inoperable Easy Loader CNC table, mfg. in Alberta Canada. The table has made its way to the top of the list after moving it to four different shops. Looking to refit the machine with newer controls. It’s running a PMDX-122 with two ISD110-8 stepping motor drivers. So I am back looking for some help.

Welcome back! The table and controls you mention I am not familiar with. I would suggest posting in the DIY section of the forum and you may get some better responses.

There are many DIY types here to help, first is to find out how much you understand about the layout of the basic CNC table controller. The components that make up a controller can be bought from different vendors, and what software you intend to use for its operation. Many of the components are the same as far as their function (motors, drivers, and power supplies) other may differ as to the software you wish to use. The BOB board or interface between the PC and the drivers/table is dependant on the software.

I am a retired Navy Chief Electronics Technician (Submarines) so I am familiar with the basic layout. I was looking for recommendations on the cleanest way to update the electronics package. There are lots of companies out there that say their software is great. Looking for input on what the guys here say works. I want to decide on a software package and upgrade the machine for that software.

Re: Hello from MT
I have used controller from a few venders, here is what I say about converting your setup. I would look at UCCNC for the interface between a PC and the motor drivers. This is fairly straightforward and they have different configurations depending on the number if input and output signal you want to use. This being how many home/limit switches, and others like THC, floating head switch and Ohmic sensor. The table I am using now is using the UC400ETH board with one BOB this give me enough input/outputs for my setup, with the option to add another BOB if needed. This board and their software comes to about $300. I do have a Price THC incorporated in my setup, this adds an additional cost. This adds about another $300-350 to the cost. There are other controllers that would be easy to use like the MyPlasm which has its own THC as part of the kit. Both this will use the drives and motor you have.
