hello from darkest Lincolnshire!

Post by Harreng »

Hi everybody, I bought an ESAB Eagle 3000 with vision PC, and PT24 torch disassembled and on palates with a fault a couple of years ago, long story, but I've finally got it assembled and many things sorted out! Still not quite there, but I have someone helping me out next week. My question is, Krytox is recommended to seal around the nozzle, does anyone know

what the Krytox number or ID is? will be cheaper and easier than buying off ESAB.

Welcome to the forum! I can't speak to your Krytox question, but perhaps some of the other members will have more knowledge about your setup.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome aboard, that looks like a fairly heavy duty setup there. I would suggest you have some sort of a capture device under it, like a water table or box with air exhaust to take care of the dust and smoke. The dust plasma creates is very fine and powdery, it can get into many places you do not want it to. Without a collection device it will cover many things soon.
Have fun you can look around here with the search function in the upper right. Many member from all over the world and lots of experiences so question will be answered.

Wow! That thing in a BEAST! Where is Lincolnshire? It sounds like some place in England. Be sure to take the advice above, and come up with some means of dealing with the smoke and fumes. It isn't ordinary smoke. It is very fine metal dust. You don't want to breathe much of it in over your lifetime. :-o It is natural, so you can expel it out over a field, or find some way to contain it in a chamber, much like how vacuum cleaner bags work. However, if your neighbors begin to notice that their cars, homes, children or pets are being covered by black dust, it will cause problems, for sure.

What software do you have, to run that machine?

ESAB should be able to answer your questions.

Thanks for getting back to me, the plasma had no bed with it, so I have built one third of the new one, and not boxed it in yet until I know it works for definite, then I'll pick up and fit an extraction system, and block in the sides. I know very little about things like these, welding and fabrication are my main things, I've been given something called C-cut 5 which is a nesting program, I have Autocad to draw my DXF's, so once the thing works properly that will be the next thing to sort out. Can't wait! Lincolnshire is a rural county on the East coast of England, about 40 miles from Boston, fairly influential in the USA's history I think!

It is amazing, how LITTLE Americans know about world geography. I saw "Boston" and began looking for Lincolnshire somewhere in a nook or cranny of the east coast of the USA

I did a Google map of Lincolnshire, looks like your near Grantham, we watched a PBS program called "Downton Abbey" head of the household was Lord Grantham I assume it was filmed there. Or they gave him that name to make it sound grand. :HaHa
Keep us in the loop with your progress, ask questions if you like.

Yes, not far from Grantham, but Downton was filmed mainly in Hampshire and other settings, there was an Earl of Grantham, going back to 1698, but I think Lord Grantham may be fictional! :-)
