Hypertherm Powermax 45 Air Won't Stop Flowing

Post by gharp »

Hello everyone, new to the forum and late to the party. looking for help on diagnosing a problem. the torch is stuck in the on position(air flows continually) and the led light on the solenoid valve is on. the only way to stop air flow is to turn off power. any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Welcome! Is your amperage dial turned all the way counterclockwise? That puts the machine in gas test mode and air will flow to allow you to set the incoming air pressure properly.

Does it do this still if you unplug the plasma from the cnc controller?

i am sorry for the confusion. it is a stand alone unit not hooked up to a cnc machine.

Ah ok. Well you have me stumped but If I were in this situation I would disassemble the hand torch and inspect for damage or a bad trigger switch and I would unplug the 45 from power, remove the cover and give it a good cleaning inside and try again.
