Considering Buying a BOSS LASER now

Post by Joe Jones »

There is a nice 5x10 BOSS LASER table for sale. 155 Watt laser with CO2 and metal capability. I am negotiating the details now ...

Pretty cool. So what will 155 watts cut for you in metal or are you using it more for marking?

No, 155 watts would probably cut 14 gauge cold roll steel at most. The deal fell through. My offer was too low, and the table owner wants a lot more. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

That's a bummer, but always worth a try.

It PAYS to ask questions!

I called BOSS LASER to inquire about upgrading this laser table to 250 watts. He said it is NOT POSSIBLE.

The table in this thread is a 110VAC system that is 155 watts only, and will cut only 18 gauge steel. My goal is to cut at least 14 gauge steel, so this one will not work.

What is the cost of the next one up, with the 250 watt laser? $70,000.00

This puts the 250 watt table on par with the BESCutter tables and others.

so I guess I am back to square one, waiting for the opportunity to get into my first choice, the KERN OptiFLEX 500 watt table for $240K or the 4x8 FiberCELL laser (2000 watts) for around $200K, but I am a long way away from THAT dream!
