Re: Magnetic sheet metal brakes
Well you all convinced me that it was safe so I went and did it. That seller also has the EB-4816B for sale at 2599 with only 199 shipping (Kaka wanted 400 to ship) so I pulled the trigger. The 4816B has a different base than the 4816M, that you can store the bending bars in which is kind of nice. Excited to finally get it!!

Seller on eBay use different ways to generate a sale, lower price but a shipping with a cost, or free shipping with shipping built into the price. Not saying it is wrong just ways to trigger a buyer. I have bought many things and sold many things on ebay and still do. I bought an 2 old cars for over 10K some time back for an individuals. One thing for sure it pays to shop around, it your money.![]()

My line voltage is 246 VAC so it looks like I'll need a bucking transformer also. That same one you have should work fine right?adbuch wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 12:36 am
Voltage Range:
To ensure proper performance and prevent damage, the power supplied should be within a range of 220VAC +/- 5%, which translates to 209VAC to 231VAC
My line voltage is around 240 Vac, so I had to install a bucking transformer to get the supply voltage down to within the specified range.
This is the transformer I am using.

Re: Magnetic sheet metal brakes
My KAKA magnetic brake came in about a week ago, and I finally got it setup with a buck/boost transformer and it's all set in place. I was planning on getting a new transformer for 180.00 but found a used on on eBay for 55.00. I took a chance and it works great! I originally wanted the design that is most popular from all the sellers, more of a T shaped setup with an X shaped footprint, but even though this design retails for more than the other one, I found one on eBay that I'm pretty sure the seller goofed up the price and it was way cheaper! I wasn't happy about getting this model at first but now I really like that it has the storage for the long bars inside the legs.
I decided to skip putting on the support bars and shelf on the back that they come with so I can slide it right up next to my fixture table. It's level with the top of the table, takes up very little room, and fits perfect! My first project was to make a cover for the magnet since I do a lot of grinding on my fixture table and don't want the grinding dust sticking to the magnet. Then I made a couple boxes for my steering wheel puller and universal hub puller since those had crappy cardboard boxes that I've been meaning to replace. Finally just for fun, I made a vintage style open top toolbox.
So far it's been great! I've bent 22ga, 20ga, 16ga, even some 14ga with ease and it has nice crisp bends on everything. I'm excited to not have to use a hammer and the edge of my table to bend sheet metal anymore. Although I think I need to get a spot welder now...

Nice set-up! I made my workbench / welding table / plaz table all the same height for material clearance & support on bigger fab jobs.

It looks like it was meant to be right where it is. Thanks for the update. Kinda wondering if prices have jump at all since your purchase. It appeared they might have gone up a couple hundred.

Re: Magnetic sheet metal brakes
I paid 2599 for mine and now the cheapest I can find that model is 3146 so yeah… prices have jumped. The seller even called me to tell me he had been sitting on 2 for a while and forgot about the listings, that’s why it was so cheap. That one in my first post was the other listing at 2249, but he caught that one and changed it.martyy wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 12:11 pm It looks like it was meant to be right where it is. Re: Magnetic sheet metal brakes
That's a great looking setup! I bought a spot welder from Harbor Freight (240Vac) back around 2017 that really works quite well. I was in the process of building a small circuit to control the duration of the weld pulse - but never got around to finishing it.
This one looks very similar to mine.
