1/4" hooks, and I used 1/8" for the rest.

Thank you for the coat rack file it worked great! I painted it to match a couple of other things we have made in the room. I did have to modify it to only 5 hooks for the wall where we wanted to put it. No more coats hanging off the backs of the chairs when we get home. My daughter wants one for her house now.
