Lamp shade?

Does anyone have any files to cut out a lamp shade? I would like to cut out some lamp shades and place some mica in them for the light to shine through? Any Ideas?

I know this is not a lamp shade but....I have made several of these for kitchens, pool table rooms and large living rooms.

I will try to explain what you are looking at.

The two end caps are made to fit/bolt to the top section and the two sides bolt to the end caps.

You will need to bend the tabs with bolt holes to match the corresponding holes.

With that said, you will need to draw in or put images in the two end caps and the two side plates (open areas).

You will notice there are small tabs inside the end caps and side plates.......They are there to hold mica panels in place.

So......If you draw in the scenes, bolt together the pieces and install mica..........you have some cool large light fixtures to play with.

On the top pieces (inside fixture) you install your electrical........ florescent lights, incandescent lights and so on.

I wanted to make some cool lights for my place and drew these up a few years ago.

They work great and with a little creativity, they make some great lights.

Once assembled, hang them with chains from the ceiling.

Thanks may just have aplace for one of these, got a deal on 3000lb of 20ga 4x8 SS the other daymay need a new light in the bath room

Here are a couple I've done before, just add your own graphics to the panels, cut, fold, weld and add mounting brackets.

Thanks for the help. I made a lamp shade yesterday it turned out awesome. Does anyone know of a cost affective alternative to mica. the cheapest i can find it is $35 for a 18x36 sheet...ouch

Yes, mica is kind of expensive. There may be other options out there but I've used a combination of mica and vellum paper. Vellum is a durable translucent paper available in tons of colors. You can buy packs that contain multiple colors and the price is very reasonable. I got mine from http://www.paperandmore.com
