Transfer House

Post by DXF »

A work in progress. Got the hard part done. Add the benches and it's ready for the roof and upper level.

Looking great Dave, not that we'd expect any different from you. Look forward to seeing it completed.

PS looks like the bucket in the background forgot to move out the way of your pallet truck

Thanks guys. This one has been a real challenge, I think that's why I decided to make one. I need to make a beer holder for my forklift so I won't have to drive it with one hand! :D

Finally got the roof designed after building (4) prototypes. Whew! This has been tuff. As you can see the design is eco-friendly with the recycling of empty Miller Lite cases used in the prototypes. :D Here's a link to the method I used to draw the gores. http://www.gma.org/surfing/imaging/globe.html

Almost ready for powder coating. Making it in pieces so it can be powder coated in 2 different colors. I'm including pictures of some of my monster welds. :D

Thank you very much. I was a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker at Caterpillar in my previous life and learned how to do a few things. Yes, I am a perfectionist but that's not why I post these pictures, I am inspired by some of the Artists on this site and I hope what I create inspires some of you to use what you have learned and take it to the next level.

Here are some pictures to give you a little history of this historic building located in Decatur, Illinois. It was designated as a historical landmark and in my opinion is a very elegantly designed building for it's time. I'll post more pictures after it is powder coated.

Got er done finally! Designing a base that will mount to a 3" or 4" diameter steel pole and will hold (4) hanging planters. Gonna add solar powered LED lighting also.

Thank you very much! My hope is that someone in Decatur, IL where this fantastic building is located will think along the same lines you do. I would love nothing more than to sell several of these there.

Thank you. Coming from you I take that as a real compliment. You're right, "I have too much time on my hands". I retired 8 years ago at 51 years old to have fun making things like this. I'm very fortunate to do so and have found my calling. I wish everyone could do the same.

A few minor adjustments and off to my powder coater. I only have (2) hanging planters but it will hold (4). It's stout, you could almost hang a Harley from it!

Thats amazing work!

How long did it take you, from design to finished product, to create this?

I hope i can one day create peices of art like this
"There are bigger things planned for you in your life, be patient"

Im on the prowl for a good used Hypertherm Plasma with hand torch.
PM me with details
Thanks
