Y2K Manual Roller

Post by tnbndr »

Just a heads up. I purchased one of these with the understanding it was made in the USA. I don't think so! Had to grind out the burrs left from drilling the set screw hole in the handle in order to get it on. Welds look like a 2 year did them.
Very dissappointed.

Advertised on Eagle Bending website:
http://www.eaglebendingmachines.com/manualY2k.htm
but sold through Carell Corporation in Alabama.

Interesting, that looks almost nothing like the one advertised on Eagle's website--the profile is similar, but theirs looks like a big/heavy/strong cast or forged piece, rather than an easily-copied plasma cut piece of flat steel.

Yup, looks like you have been "bait-n-switched". I would be pissed and would be on the phone pretty quickly.

It is getting shipped back tomorrow. Got them to waive the restocking fee but still out the shipping both ways. Lesson learned.

Any suggestions for a good bender out there? I don't have time to make the one that is posted on here but looking at the Pro Bender LE.

Received a call from the company today saying that they received my returned machine. They don't know how that item was ever shipped out, it is not the item they sell. They buy them from Hawk Industries and were going to have a talk with them. I said that is all and good but someone should reimburse me for my shipping costs. He just laughed. I don't expect to hear another thing from them.
Lesson learned.

As a follow up I emailed the sales rep at Eagle today questioning whether he had any luck getting my shipping costs reimbursed from Hawke Industries as they shipped out a different item. He asked for copies of my receipts and I provided them. Received an email shortly after that they (Carell Corp) were issuing a check to me for the shipping costs. Apparently this company knows how to treat customers and I would do business with them again. Just make sure you get what you ordered. This was a very pleasant surprise.

Thanks for taking the time to post the final outcome.

All and any business can and will have problems arise, it's how these problems are sorted that really matters. Too often people forget to convey the final outcome.

If anyone is interested in the roller above, I came across similar on ebay made by the same company that made the one above. It looks a little different again but the same principal. I emailed them to ask if all three rollers where included in the auction and they responded only the black one. All made in the USA supposedly (of foreign parts)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123

I have decided to build my own, will post pictures when complete.
Using this guys rollers http://www.swagoffroad.com/Metal-Fabric ... -_c_7.html
And following this build but cutting the entire body out of 3/8" HR Steel http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/shop-too ... eview.html .
But did purchase the HF Roller just for the rolls and SWAG is modifying them for their keyway shaft for no cost but shipping. I am going to power it with the pipe threader for now and upgrade to a geared motor in the future.
If anyone is interested in just the HF Roller Body and wants to pay shipping it's theirs, otherwise I am going to scrap it out.
