Setting up electricity for Powermax 65

Post by Metriccar »

The manual says there are options to set the machine up as single phase or 3 phase, with different amperage settings. I'm having an electrician come out and provide 220v wiring. Can someone explain the difference between these settings and which is better?

3 phase is commercial electricity . its suppose to be cheaper then single phase . if you are working out of youre house you probably don't have that option.

If your Powermax65 is a CSA version (US) then it will operate on 200 volts to 600 volts, single or three phase. The manual has clear instructions for inlet power in the installation section. There are no settings, basically you connect two wires and the ground for single phase power, or 3 wires and a ground for 3 phase power.

The manual has a chart with suggested wire gauges, suggested fuse or circuit breaker sizes. Wire sizes and fuse/breaker sizes are dependent on the power you have at your site. The electrician should be able to look at the charts and wire it correctly. If you need further help post what your voltage is, also is it single phase or 3 phase, and I will look up the information for you.

While there is no noticeable difference in cut quality or speed on any of the different input voltages...the duty cycle is better at higher voltages and with 3 phase power.
