New "vintage" pinch roll

Post by K D Metalwerks »

Here is our vintage Niagara pinch roll we just purchased. It has 3" x 36" rolls and is rated at 14 gauge. I suspect it will possibly do 10 gauge as it is very heavy duty. We fabricated the stand from some vintage bridge beams that I saved when the bridge on our road was replaced 30 years ago. Fire pit rings and ideas not yet realized!!

Nice find. The gauge rating is for full length (36") pieces. It can and will do heavier gauges that are shorter in width. You will know when you have over stretched the capacity, especially with a hand crank.
Here is one that I purchased and converted to power several years ago. It is only rated for 16 gauge at 36" but I have rolled 10 gauge with it but only at about 16".

nice machines fellows. Can you tell if these rollers have ball bearing or bushing? What is the diameter of the rolls? I'm thinking about building my own roller but don't want to reinvent the wheel by having to engineer the whole thing from the ground up.

The one that I have a Pexto/Roper Whitney 390E uses sleeve bushings. I am sure you can find an exploded view parts manual if you do a google search.
