importing Dxf files into inkscape?

Is there anyway I can import an existing dxf file into inkscape to modify it? I'm totally new to all this stuff so I might just be doing it wrong, but when I import them and try modifying them it just doesn't seem to work. Can someone provide some insight? Am I maybe missing a step somewhere?

I don't know why but it will not do that funny it recognized the file as loadable but nothing shows up.
Try contacting the guy a arclight http://arclightcnc.com/contact-us/
He has done many videos on Inkscape that are very helpful maybe he can tell you how to do it.
