Torchmate 4x4 growth series AVHC dead new controller?

We are working on multiple TM Retros the last two weeks. The best way to start the process is to contact us via the Contact Form on he website OR via the RFS (Request for Support) form in the SUPPORT section of the website, RFS goes directly to Engineering which also handles most retrofits. 6K would be the MOST expensive retro and typically its less than 4K all in for controller, motors Computer and Software.

Where it gets interesting is if the Plasma cutter is not one wit a documents CNC interface like the Hypertherm's and the TD "A" series. Lincoln has models with the CNC interface and the internal divider BUT pin out is different,

One of the challenges on older TM tables (bfore LINCOLN) is the THC and its "Smart" Motor on the torch lifter. head It's not a controlled Z from software or code, and you cannot simply replace the motor with a stepper and plug in the Z axis from the control. We typically have to replace the whole Z . It MIGHT be possible to change out the Smart motor with a stepper and added a new floating torch holder and a break-away bracket but not sure on t he llead screw TPI so Z speeds may be a bit slow . We are working on a less expensive Z replacement that our Super Z II that will help keep the price even lower..

As far as my current setup/ blue screen AVHC controller, someone from torchmate has reached out to me and every day he's been walking me through some issues and getting me working better than its been in a very long time (if not forever). My voltage height controller hasn't ever really worked good, and he help me understand how to set it up better and suggested if I still had problems to run an actual ground to my table. Welp, that fixed it. I hate saying it out loud or even typing it, but it seems no matter how much distortion i get in the 18ga. material, it is finally consistently adjusting for it. Props to Jake from torchmate.

I still want to upgrade, but at least in the meantime my students can benefit from having the table and it won't just be sitting around collecting dust and rust!

Thanks again to everyone here. To be honest, someone has probably suggested grounding the table... I'm just hardheaded and was probably looking for an "easy fix" or magic solution like everyone else I would have made fun of... LOL

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. It was working... With my machine working better, I was able to cut more, and therefore more issues presented themself. Jake from Torchmate helped narrow my newest of problems, and now it appears that my machine torch for my Pmax is broken. I have a track torch set up, so we borrowed that torch and used it with the torchmate. It worked good for about 15 minutes and then it started with the same problem. Brand new or not, my Hypertherm consumables wouldn't last 2 piercings before the Hypertherm triggered 0-30 or 0-50. I hooked the torch head back to the track torch and it doesn't seem to hate any of the previously rejected consumables.

Anyway, I had reached my limit with the machine and not receiving any other requested quotes, my coworker and I decided to bite the bullet and get the retrofit kit. He doesn’t have the patience to work with this thing and I have run out. Regrettably, going through the other manufactures sites, neither of us were sent quotes that our administration was comfortable with.

Hopefully I will have good news to report in a few weeks. Thanks for everything!
