Re: PlasmaCAM Genesis Release
Are you considering ordering one? I have read at least one positive review over at one of the Plasmacam Facebook groups.plasmanewbie wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 4:37 pm I am very curious for the release and some customer reviews on the new Genesis.

No, I am not in the market for a new table David. I have experience with PlasmaCam back in the 3.1.1 days when I got started and I am interested in what they have done different and how it working out for folks.

Re: PlasmaCAM Genesis Release
I think the brochure pretty much sums up what the "improvements" are to this new model. The one review I saw indicated that the buyer was very pleased with his new table. I believe that he had previously owned and operated a DHC2.plasmanewbie wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 9:24 pm No, I am not in the market for a new table David. As far as producing a flat part, I don't see anything that new table will or can do that my existing DHC2 does. The Genesis still uses the Design Edge software. It does have a feature where it can roll a pipe along the table top for tub cutting, which is an improvement over the old method of having to remove the entire gantry and mount it to the side rail of the table.
I build a stand-alone tube cutter to avoid that hassle.
I think they made the side rails lower so that material can be loaded from the side. That is not a feature that is important to me personally, but might be handy for some folks.
Also - they mounted the gantry higher from the table for more clearance under the gantry for cutting rectangular tubes, etc. I don't often have the need to do that, but it would be handy should the need arise.

Re: PlasmaCAM Genesis Release
I'm seeing so many hardly used tables 4' x 8' and 5' x 10' tables for under $10K with everything ready to go many different brands with many getting superior cuts, I'm really considering just getting something bigger and used. The rails on the Pcam tables are above the table. New machines are under the table but the cost of a new table with software bothersome when I already have the software

Re: PlasmaCAM Genesis Release
If you already have a Plasmacam DHC2 with Design Edge software, why would you even consider buying another table? If you need bigger than 4x4, the get the Sampson 5x10. Or you can expand your 4x4 to 4x8, etc.brianm100 wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 6:02 pm I'm seeing so many hardly used tables 4' x 8' and 5' x 10' tables for under $10K with everything ready to go many different brands with many getting superior cuts, I'm really considering just getting something bigger and used. Re: PlasmaCAM Genesis Release
I'd love to get my hands on one, if only temporarily. I would put it through its paces, and make videos to show off its capabilities. Then I could pack it up and ship it to a buyer or whatever.
PlasmaCam did not see fit to ship a Genesis table to me, and they not only wanted me to BUY a Genesis table at full ticket price, but they also wanted me to spend another $14K for the "Full Monty" of software upgrades for the new table as well, since I already have those upgrades on my Samson 510 table.
I am sorry to tell them that I have graduated to lasers, and the Genesis isn't different ENOUGH from my Samson 510 table to justify the expense.
The genesis is a GREAT new table design, and for those who are buying their FIRST plasma table, it is a great choice. I still advise people to buy the "Big Three" upgrades, Advanced Design, Advanced Machine Control and Advanced Height Control. This gives you a great cnc plasma table!
Add to that, the fact that with just a lit-tle bit of red neck engineering, one can create a functional replica of their new cable wrap pipe cutting system on a regular PlasmaCam or Samson 510 table.
I still love the software, and I will probably never get rid of my Samson 510 plasma table.
I have not decided whether or not to sell my 4x4 table with the tall rail lift system that raises the rails to 27.5" above the grates. It is a HANDY feature, but the table is tucked into a corner of the storeroom, relegated to being a 'catch all', and I am thinking
about selling it.
I have a rather large collection of 4x4 and 510 parts to sell. I disassembled all of the PlasmaCam and Samson 510 tables I purchased from auctions. They are now just piles of PARTS on pallets. I think they total about 16 tables
I will NOT sell fully assembled, functional tables. I will NOT sell PCs with DesignEdge software on them, or even DesignEdge licenses that came with these tables. It is just too much of a hassle jumping through their TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP hoops. A few of the auction tables came with PCs with various DE licenses on them, but I am just going to wipe them clean and probably donate the PCs to a local school or something. I have about 50 towers stacked up around here!
However, for anyone who wants to convert a Go Torch into a 2x4, or 4x4, or 4x5, or 2x10 .... or convert a 4x4 into a 4x8, or a 4x10, or make a 5x10 a 5x20, etc., I have the parts!
I also have several spare controller boxes that I will probably eventually sell, as long as they are NOT to be used to build "ghost" tables or pipe cutters, etc. It is always good to have a spare controller lying around, right?
In fact, buyers will be REQUIRED to sign a document stating that they will NOT use a spare controller to build a "ghost" PlasmaCam table. Otherwise I will not sell one to them.
Hmmm...
Maybe PlasmaCam would like to buy these controllers from me at $2,000.00 each, to make sure they do not end up running rogue tables
I also have SIX brand new Go Torch machines to sell. These DO come with the bare bones DesignEdge software.
So there is a lot of "stuff" stacked up around here that I want to get rid of in the remainder of this year.
