25 pc. of these.

Post by SpartanKen »

I have a guy that wants me to quote 25 of these peacock feathers. 3' long x 1' wide.

What would you quote for 1 and for 25 of them.

Cut from 16 gauge. unfinished.

Are you sure that it's just 3 inch long? The details would be too small to be made with Plasma.

Here in Brazil I usually quote:

Cutting Time: 600 BRL/Hour
PLUS
Desingning Time: 600 BRL/Hour (Almost all drawings I can make in less than 10min)
PLUS
Carbon Steel: 4 BRL/Square Kg (I pay 2.50 BRL/Kg)
OR
Stainless: 18 BRL/Square Kg (I pay 13.7 BRL/Kg)

When a customer send me a CLEAN file and material, I just quote him the cutting time.

My complete Setup: White Martins Autocut 3000 - Hypertherm HPR260XD, Automatic Gas Console, ArcGlide THC, Edge Pro, ProNest 2012.

Sorry, I just missundertanded, I'm used to work with Metric Units. 3 feet = 900mm
Does your Cam Software calculates the cutting time?
How much time did you take to draw?

I'm sure it does... it hasn't arrived yet. I ordered my table a while ago, it will be here on Wednesday (I hope).

Sorry to say but this file is horrible for plasma cutting.

I plugged it into my own software for wood. Used a .030 bit simulating a fine cut consumable from hypertherm with a feedrate of 100ipm. The software said 19 minutes roughly.

The end result was crap. Way too much detail in that feather and is not worthy of wasting metal on. Clean it up if you get the job with a lot less detail.

Hope that helps

Good to know, without any time on a machine, I have nothing to go off of. Without knowing the true limitations of the machine, I'm relying on others to steer me in the right direction. I imagine I will be wasting a few sheets for my learning curve.

OK, so the main issue here is the lines are to close/thin?

This piece is way to detailed to be your first cut.
I also agree that it will fall apart when you cut it.
A laser cutter could cut it ,I would think.

If you would scale this file up to 3ft, you should be able to cut it without much problem. Thanks to RBRAGUE for the file.

that is the scale I want, 3 foot for the one I created. Will the file I upladed work at 3 feet? I really don't see the difference between the two. What am I missing here?

I guess the one on the right is slightly thicker, but not much.

Thanks again.

I told the guy I'll have to pass, since I have no idea what to quote it other then the cost of material.

good move, the one you posted is absolutely a file that needs to be laser cut. The one Signtorch posted would cut very nicely on a plasma though
