Can any of you tell me why am I getting these foggy areas from my clear coat? I am using rattle can clear coat for metal.

Are you using hot or cold rolled steel?

Looks like P&O or hot rolled to me.
The mill scale might be the problem.

It's like putting a liquid on wood which changes the color.

It is hot rolled that has been primered and spray painted black.

My guess would be too much moisture in the air.

Yes, humidity will do that but also overspray will cause similar results.

I've experienced the same results with spray can clear coat.
I was using Rust-Oleum Triple Thick Glaze Clear.
I was spraying it on from to far of a distance from the piece. Instruction's recommend 8"-10".
I was 12" to 16" off piece.
