Here is a welding tool holder bracket that I made for our local sheet metal workers welding school where I instruct one of the evening classes for our apprentices. I found the tip dip and welding pliers holder a few years back and burned one for my home shop (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24294&p=161238&hili ... ip#p161238 Then a few days ago our apprenticeship coordinator asked me to come up with something to hold some of our tools for our welding shop. I loved the one that I burned a few years back and modified it a bit and added a place for a wire brush, chipping hammer, and up to a few C-Grips.

I burned 10 of the attached DXF file from 12 gauge for our welding booths and installed them earlier this evening.
Maybe U have use for one, or 10

Doug - those look great!! Thanks for sharing your file. In addition to the holders, I particularly like the fume extraction system shown in the photo. I'll bet with all those mig welders going at once, this one really does the job. Back in the day when I took high school welding, we used stick welders and oxy/acetylene torches. I've still got the cold chisel I made in the same welding class.

Thanks David. I had a hand in the design of that system several years ago :Yay .
Here in the San Joaquin Valley, we have weather a lot like Arizona, Dry and hot. So we run evap. coolers in our shop. The exhaust system pulls a lot of the humidity out of the air that they are designed to produce when the evaporative coolers are running.
But they particularly do a great job removing smoke from the welding booths!
I only help out when we get an influx of apprentices and fill in on other nights.
The school has a full sheet metal shop too as well as a CNC plasma table.
I like to keep involved in it..

I modified this drawing quite a while ago, it is a modification of a file on the first page here with the visegrips..
As with the original visegrip file you bend it 1/2" in with a kick and just past slots into a 90 degree bend.
I made this to hold visegrips and smaller visegrips, slotted holes hold t-handled allens or screw drivers and the pieces out would hold wrenches by the box end part...
I've never cut this one but have put other logos on them in the past..
I make them out of heavier material, 12ga or 11ga seems to work fairly nice..
Good luck..

Nice file!! Thanks for sharing. This one would be fun to change the name for specific themes and cut as gifts. I might just do some with Norton, Triumph, etc. for my motorcycle buddies.

Norton-logo-history.jpg
Yes, I made trophies out of these once, made 70 some... And yes on the bend. Small bend 1/2" from fingers slight kick to help keep tools on, especially if mounted in a trailer.
I have some Norton logos done somewhere but I'm afraid it's on my last computer.. Interesting logo changes over the years.

This gives me an idea for a contest...
Let's brain storm on this..
We come up with an idea, it can be a simple project like this..
Example...
Use a variation of this tool holder, Use a logo on or in it, make it functional and not too elaborate cut with any cnc plasma table..
We'd set a few ground rules, give a month long window.
Design art, cut and finish, and at the end of the month we post what we came up with along with dxf. files to share..
We can start a new thread...
Thoughts..?????

Hey, I would be up for a fun contest like that. I like that we do it with something like this tool holder, something that would be very useful in the end, I could use one of these. Lets see how many folks chime in and are in on it. I know folks are busy so may be tough to get it going but lets see who's in.

Thanks for that! I've got several Nortons and they do look a little different with the Norton logo. I never paid much attention, but the 1964 Atlas logo does maybe look a little different than the one on the 1974 Commando.

I have this big metal cabinet for holding sheets of sandpaper, but I needed something to hold 6" round sheets for my DA also. I drew up and made these things and they works great. I just used double sided tape and stuck them to the top of my other cabinet. They’re all tab and slot and require no welding or hardware to put together. Just bend them up and use ‘em.

What kind of collet rack are you looking for? For what size collets and how many? Maybe something like this?
The one in the pictures of for R-8 Bridgeport size collets.
