Sunday morning projects
Started the sunflower on Friday night, and finished it this morning... Must have almost a dozen puncture wounds from the leaves! LOL... The stem is a 5' black pipe nipple from Home Depot.... Chucked up in the lathe & ground off the black coating and oil.... Next into the forge to get the top bend, and a few little curves to give the stock some depth...
I plug welded the top flowers on after doing an initial color coat because I wanted as much resistance to rust as possible. The center of the flower has a 1/4" all thread connector welded to the inside, and a 1/4" bolt welded to the flower, and after powdercoating, just thread the center on...
All the leaves were planished on the hammer, and I think it looks pretty good... May try to find a sunflower field to take a picture of it!
The leaf bowl is a big seller this time of year, and again planishing hammer, but the bottom of a gas cylinder works too!

Re: Sunday morning projects
Very nice! Is that all powder coated or some Steel FX dyes also?

Thanks for the kind feedback!
Yes, this is completely powdercoated, variety of finishes and dyes and CopperFx on the bottom of the bowl, it's a really nice contrast to the colors on the top...

Loved the bowl, with the 3 legs, did you design the bowl, think I will upscale one of my leaf outlines and try the same

The leaf was a file I got from Plain Ol' Bill.... It's a leaf that he scanned from a neighbors tree and used for a project for them! Pretty cool way to make something for a customer! These sell pretty well, and they're very easy to make, I probably have less than 45 minutes total to make one now.

Hey Travis! Thanks!
Haven't seen you on in a while, hope that means you're busy moving some metal! Finishing up the belt grinder project today, will be posting some video/pics later.
Cheers!
